In the Fall of 2014, Ben and Cecilia had been living together in a tiny New York apartment for two years. Cecilia quit her job, Ben was focusing on comedy gigs, and the upcoming bocce playoffs were the only structure they had. It was wonderful.

Thanksgiving rolled around, and then the day after. Ben insisted they brave the outside world to see a friend in need (a set up!) and maybe get a drink.

Ben and Cia walked through the snowdrifts of the empty town to the bench where he'd first told her he loved her one summer a few years before. He asked her to marry him, and after several gasps and a few tears, she said, "Of course."

Cecilia decided that Ben deserved a whiskey. He'd been keeping this secret (with his family, her family, their friends, and seemingly everyone else ever) for months. Of course, when they got to the Heritage, everyone was there to greet them for a perfect, perfect surprise engagement party.

*Fun Fact: Cecilia later learned that Ben's thumb hovered over a text that said, "scatter" in case anything went South between the ask and the celebration.
